Only under poor weather conditions otherwise all natural pasture conditions..we do try to keep 1 pasture clean for calving as I think its all the winter poop that contributes to mastites(sp) & other calf hood diseases. |

Was the calf you had to pull a bull calf? Boy, 12 in one day. That must be some sort of record. Congratulaions to you and to all of the mammas! _________________ Character is doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching. |

Yes he "was" (key word there) a big bull calf but she was also a big cow so we are not really sure why she had trouble. She would get out the front toes then litlte bit of the nose then suck it all back in..was an easy pull though. |

That is alot of cattle and babies too. Bet it does keep you busy. We calve outside too when ever possible but the earlier 4 had their's inside under the camera's. Keep heifers in for their first time but no heifers calving this year. Our herd is just hobby, 12 cows and a bull. Change bulls every 2 years normally unless we sell the heifers. _________________ Visit Bear Valley Miniature Horse Farm
