Hey guys, thank you for the good wishes. I haven't been around much lately because so much has been going on...Gideon has a problem with his sheath (some of you might have seen that on that on the other forum), my husband's grandmother died last Tuesday (we spent all day with her in the hospital Monday, because they didn't expect her to make it through the day). Then I started back to work on Thursday, and I got excruciating pains in my stomach Saterday morning and still hasn't fully went away. I was scared they were going to have to rush me to the hospital but stupid me...I would rather die then go to the doctor's.

Anyways, I couldn't hardly get out of bed the past two days, so I had to have my husband feed the horses for me. I went more than 48 hours without seeing them. Well this morning, my husband told me that he caught Zoey picking at the garden hose. I began to feel better around noon, so I went out to see the horses while I could actually move. As soon as I turned the corner, I saw Zoey eating the hose. I shoooed her away, and went to look at the hose. It has nearly a foot and a half of the outter rubber missing, and we couldn't find any of it anywhere in the pen, so I'm assuming she ate it. I couldn't stop from crying. I called all the vets I could but no one is open. I did reach a vet about 2 hours away on his emergency line, but he isn't available today. Instead he told me to give her 4 (60 cc) syringes of mineral oil. Now all I can do is monitor her to make sure she doesn't colic. If she does, then I have to give her Diprone and hope it keeps her ok until tomorrow morning. I have been just soooo stressed lately. I wish today could have been better, and to top it off, I am feeling so guilty that I let someone else take care of them for me...I should have crawled back there!

Anyways, thank you all for thinking of me. It means alot to me.

Hi everybody...so far, today is better. It was another long night, with Mark and I both getting up every two hours to make sure that Zoey wasn't colicing. Then Mark took the horses over to the vet's this morning, and got them checked out. Gideon was supposed to go tomorrow anyways, but he got to go today instead.

Mark said that the vet didn't seem overly concerned about the hose eating, and said that if she doesn't colic by Thursday, she should be fine. He said the biggest fear is if one of the pieces doesn't shimmy down her tummy, and becomes lodged in there. But he said that we did really good by oiling her, and that instead of him doing it and charging us, we could bring her back home and do it here. Mark said for him to go ahead and do it, so that we know the oil goes where it is supposed to, and that it is done right. He also had Gideon done, incase he ate any of it too.

Gideon has summer sores. The vet said that it is very painful and that it's a good thing he was seen before the fly eggs hatched. He ended up cutting off the tip of the urethra that was sticking out. And to make it worse, Mark brought it home to show me. ICK!

$300 later, I am feeling much better then I was yesterday. Now I've gotta watch to make sure Zoey doesn't colic and that Gideon's private parts heal right. Just another day in my life.

Ooops, forgot to add, we had to syringe her the oil yesterday. We filled the syringe, then put it in her mouth sideways (like when you deworm them), and gently squeezed it in. We were extrememly careful and took our time, to make sure that she swallowed it and didn't inhale it. Then before bed, I squirted more oil over her soaked pellets and let her eat it. I'm glad that Mark had the vet do it today, I wasn't looking forward to having to do it again.

What a day!!!!! Hope to hear that all is well, and that you get a chance to sit back and relax.

Sorry to hear of your husband's grandmother's passing. No matter the age, a loved one is missed so much. {{{{Hugs}}}}

Sorry about all the things going on at your place. What an expensive birthday! Sorry about your husband's grandma. Hope you get better and maybe see a doctor for yourself, I know I am always the last one to see the doctor too. But if you get worse who looks after your babies.
