AMHA rule changesYour horses just got shorter over night.. We are now measuring to the
base of the withers. The only good thing is see about this is that
breeders will be breeding away those straight fronts and get more
slope in the shoulders..
They are also closing the stud book in a few years. This one I really
don't like.. Some of the best horses ever came from unknows. Nothing
behind them in their pedigrees.. So what will happen to the next Blue Boy,
Buckaroo, Orion, Prince Tennessee. No more hardshipping when the
books close.. What a waste of potentially great horses. Or someone
will start even more horse registeries to allow these horses to be registered.
Just what we need... What.... isn't there four now..

Yes i saw that post too. My opinion is if they were going to change the measuring point why not make it at the withers. Now i gotta find that little groove or nitch or dent or whatever the heck it is at the bottom of the withers. When it warms up...not sure when it becomes a fact though. The countries that already measure the Miniatures at the withers are going to have a good laugh at us over this one too.
Closing the books, i agree with you Adie.
