Carole has a foal.........Its a ??????
Tonight at about 10:15, Melody had her foal. I had put the girls in their pens and fed them about 8:30 , (no sign of impending labor) and came in to wait for the chickens to go to bed so I could go back out and shut them in. After I came back in as it was dark, I looked out to see what the mares were doing and Melody was laying down, nothing unusual looking about that, so I went to the closer window to check on Peanut and she was standing there eating hay, so I watched Mel for a bit and she was turning her head towards her belly every little while so I thought she might be having some pains, as her back was to me, then I saw something dark move and thought it was her tail, then it moved again and out I went as I knew it was not a tail. She has a solid black (at least looks black while still wet) not a white hair on it and its a filly! Yippee my ring was right.
Melody is being a very good mom as this is her first, I was concerned about her nipples being so tiny, but baby has been sucking so all seems well, hopefully will get some dry pictures tomorrow. She was 327 days. Tracy is the sire!

Your mare looks like an old hand at this mothering thing.. Baby is a pretty little gal too. Congratulations.. Hope the rest foal with as much ease..
