Coggins test..Hate it..when was the last case reported? 200 years ago?? Gotto stick these poor guys in the venes..One of our vets makes needle cushins out of them..at least its summer time and they shedded out..STILL hate it..nothing but $$ for vets..same as rabies shots EVERY year..

C..we had some positives in our area a few years ago.
There is a riding/boarding stable near the Indiana line, about 20 miles from us, and they were boarding a positive horse and the owner refused to put it down...and to tell you the truth, I can see both sides of that dilema. 
Anyway, for a couple years after that and even now, they are still requiring coggins at the fair shows, and if you do not have a coggins you are escorted with your horses off the grounds.

I hate it anytime they have to use a vein in the neck...and I worry it will start bleeding again. I know its probably silly..but us MOMS worry, you know. 
I was thinking of not getting the igg test done on my fillies this year...almost didn`t, everything was very normal, but then I thought..guess I better spend the money and be sure. Well, my filly, Riley who is the SWEETEST baby I have had in years...had NO immunities..NONE..they run the test 2 times and were so shocked they called me at work and went out to give her the serum STAT.
Needless to say, she is doing great and I have her listed for sale..but I am thinking more and more that I want to keep her around. MAN..they go right for the Heart..don`t they????

I hate it too C. Luckily I have a very sweet young lady vet who uses tiny kitty needles and is very gentle and usually can get it will 1 or 2 pokes. I hate pokes too!

Oh No Shady..sooo glad you did the IgG..I know I let it slide sometimes too.. 
There is nothing worse than seeing a apperently healthy foal going downhill..and if you get them through plasma and all it is the worst of selling them..I think I will have to keep my plasma baby too
