Well, it's been kinda quiet around here. The bears haven't been around the last 2 nights. We were parked on the side of the road at the school for the kids yesterday and this dude we don't even know stopped and told us that he just saw a mother bear and her cubs on their way up to our house ... I thanked him for letting us know, and after he left I said to Tony "Who was that ?"...yes we live in a small town
Finished off the firewood yesterday. Got 5 rows 14' long and 6' high in the woodshed...OH YEA!!! WHOO HOO!!!
This is our old tractor, it came with the property, it has worked real hard for us, but yesterday, on the last trip out something broke in the transmission, and we now have no gears but 1st
Then I took the garden apart, so that's the end of the horses Cucumber and peas a day They will miss that.
Next gig to wrap up is the barn. I can't wait!!!
We worked on it a couple of days ago, it's hard to get those big 6x10 beams up. We were lucky to be able to borrow the neighbours back hoe.
The horses like it when we work on the barn, cause when they put on the 'look at me, I'm starving ' face, it's easy to convince us to shoot them a little nip or two of grass.
I would say that they are relaxed and trusting...they didn't even flinch when Tony fired up the chainsaw to cut beams to legnth
It will be so nice to take down the temp shelter to switch them to the new barn
It's been cooler here, winter coats are on their way on these guys...time to look like teddy bears.
I'm addicted to the sounds of horses awaiting breakfast Dixie lets out a loud - FOOD! - type whinny, and Coors always gives a low - Hey there, how bout some food- type nicker...I love them!

Great pictures by the way.
Sounds like you getting ready for winter. We burn mostly wood too and our winter supply is in the garage. I have some tomatoes to strip and then we will take the fence down and get it tilled up for next year. The summer flew by way too fast.
Going to move a big straw bale into the barn this weekend so that is ready for when i need it. Seems like everything we are doing is in preparing for the coming season. I noticed that some of the trees are just starting to change color. Early for that here though.
Saw some geese fly over when i was out burning trash.
Hubby is working for the neighbors chopping the last of their hay and then they are planning to get to the corn.

It is neat seeing pictures and the beautiful scenery of where all of you live!
Adie, your horses are Beautiful!!!
Mine have been getting fuzzier since about the second week of August or before, on a few of them.
After having had over 30 for years now and occasionally over 40 during breeding season and with foals, I am down to 26 and will be 23 after my three sold fillies are weaned and go to their new homes around the end of this month. After last winter I am so glad not to have as many, in case we get more winters as nasty and long as last year!
I am always sad to see the summer go. :(
I am very much a summer and sunshine person living in the wrong place as far as weather goes! haha But my horses and hubby love it, and I never hardly even see flies or mosquitoes year round so I try to look at it from their point of view while I am out doing my chores all winter!! haha.
At least we almost always do have blue skies and sunshine even when the temperatures are in the basement!
