Haynesworth update

Haynesworth calls Gurode to apologize
NFL NOTEBOOK

October 4, 2006
After dialing for much of the day with no luck, Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth finally got the chance Tuesday to apologize personally to Dallas Cowboys center Andre Gurode for tearing open his face with a cleat.
Haynesworth spent much of the day getting nothing but unanswered rings and a full voice-mail box before connecting in the late afternoon with Gurode, who needed 30 stitches to repair the facial cuts.

''The purpose of the conversation was to apologize,'' said Chad Speck, Haynesworth's agent.

Haynesworth was suspended Monday for five games without pay by the NFL for kicking Gurode's helmet off, then swiping his cleated foot on Gurode's face during a game between the teams Sunday in Nashville, Tenn. Speck said Haynesworth wouldn't appeal, even though the players union wanted him to try.

''He said he would accept the league's decision of what to do from a discipline standpoint, and that's what he's going to do,'' Speck said.

Speck said he gave Haynesworth's phone number to Gurode's agent and the Cowboys, hoping to connect the players. That finally happened, but Speck wouldn't detail the conversation and said he is leaving that to the players -- if they choose. Gurode's agent, Kennard McGuire, didn't immediately return messages left by the Associated Press.

Gurode plans to talk with his family about pressing criminal charges against Haynesworth, McGuire told Nashville police Monday.

Interesting. He has a heafty fine there worth about what, 50,000 in lost wages?

Hopefully Gurode lets it go now too.

Well actually his fine is about 200 000 dollars..and he is very sorry..like I said before he takes full responsiblity and did NOT appeal..he seems sincere..I know I do sometimes things I am sorry for AFTER I did them..NOT making excuses for him..he should pay..But same time just trying to understand!

I agree with you C.

Did you see his attitude on the field right after he stomped on the guys face? He was screaming and hollering and the couch trying to get him under control and into the locker room off the field?? Didn't seem too sorry about what he had just done to me. That's what I keep picturing in my mind. I think he's sorry he has to pay, he's sorry that it may not be over yet if that Gurode guy presses charges, and he's sorry for the embarrassement to his team.
Alot of these atheletes are out of control and been pampered since highschool, excused for poor grades, not paying consequences for their
actions....
Just my humble opinion ladies Bad example for our kids growing up in sports.

Yes I seen him..and NO he was mad at the ref..we don't know whats going on on the field during the game..lots of talk..I don't wanna cast NO stone! If he where mad to be fined he would have fought them..
Also it is written EVERYWHERE he stomped him..duh..NEVER stomped the man..he racked him with his shoe.
There are players out there that go on the field to "kill"..like Romo..he said he would find a hand in the "pile" and break fingers..or the highlight of his carrier was when he broke the jaw of Collins!
Joyce

Yeahthat's true, we don't know what goes on amoung them, what we can't hear, but if it were one of our sons this happened to?? Hum? It wasn't just a normal shoe either.
I'm just saying it's like that one guy, have no idea what team but the Pacman guy, he's out of contro too. I think because they play sports, people don't care about good sportsmanship anymore.

Football is a rough and physical sport..they could say..EXCUSE me..let me have that ball..PLEASE..
Bet its easy to cross the line and it takes a bigger man to walk away from a confrontaion..But we ALL are human..and he will pay for his mistake..so yes..not too bad to watch for the youth to see that actions have consequences
Joyce

Yes could you please take your shoe off my face? lol
Then no one would watch if they played that way I'm sure.
