Here it comes, winter

Sounds like fun! (We are east of the Mississippi River about 15 miles) Very windy here already. Time to get the horses rounded up.

Snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected to develop across the area tonight and then continue through Saturday, changing to all snow Saturday night and Sunday.
All snow is expected along and east of the mississippi river. Snowfall totals from the storm of at least 8 inches, with isolated totals near 15 inches, are expected by Sunday.
Areas west of the mississippi river can expect 6 to 10 inches of snow with up to one-half inch of sleet accumulation. West of a dodge center Minnesota, to oelwein iowa line can expect a significant ice accumulation of over one-half inch and snowfall totals to be somewhat reduced.
Very strong winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected Saturday afternoon and Saturday night causing near blizzard-like conditions in the snow. For those areas with icing, these winds will cause widespread power line and tree damage.
A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet, and ice are expected or occurring. This is a significant storm and travel this weekend is not recommended[/u]

We got a little shot of that last night.. went to play cards with friends in town.
When I left there, there was about eight inches of snow on my van and the highway was a skating rink..
Hope is misses you Betty...

Glad you made it home safe last night.

Actually we are looking forward to the storm Sounds like a good old fashioned winter blow out. Biggest in 8 years they are saying.

There are places in central and northern MN that are worried about fire danger. They need the moisture badly. Had to call off the big sled dog races in Northern MN because of lack of snow!

We've had plenty of snow down here but we had 53 degrees last Wednesday.

Well I would like a little global warming in my yard, and spring in the rest of the area.. so tired of snow..
Hope you have plenty of wood and lanterns then..

Well I don't know what to say ... sure feels like spring here ladies

Yes brought up lots of wood yesterday and got that stove fired up, candles and flashlights close by. Sleeted and blew overnight and we got about 7 inches of snow. Sleeting again now and then turning to snow for another 6 inches before the big one hits early hours tomorrow.
30 mph winds

Good old fashioned winter blast and then i will be ready for some global warming too. Hubby out moving round bales of hay for the cattle to keep them eating and warm. They all have shelter.

Just sit back and keep the door closed. Think i will put a pot of chili on the stove to simmer.

Beautiful weather out here plus 2c. Very sunny& warm outside so I did some walking and throwing the dogs toys in the snow the big one loves to retrieve even if snow is deep. The little one just runs around where the snow is plowed, not a favorite of deep snow. We still have a ton of snow can hardly wait for spring, we have had snow/winter too long.
