If this were WW II era, you'd be considered a War Bride. You Fraulines are hard to resist! foxhug

Well, based on the cookbook she brought over this weekend, there's no way ANYONE could have resisted!
My Mom and I were trying to figure out which recipe to do first. There's NOTHING in there that doesn't look good. Do you have favorite recipes in it, C? What should we start with?
How long can we keep it? I'm going to copy the whole book for my Mom and sister for Christmas! It's like walking into a German Konditorei and they have a color picture of every possible item with a recipe.
When I studied in Vienna we used to go to the bakery after concerts and get the cheap cake pieces that were "damaged." They kept them just for us students!! Didn't matter to us if they had tipped over and the whipped cream didn't look swirly any more. Tasted just the same.

(By the way, I think C made an outstanding choice in her "soldier boy." He seems to be a good husband and a good Dad, too. Not all of those soldiers have enough character to be in a marriage for long -- I speak from experience teaching alot of young German girls who come back married to our young guys. The majority are divorced in 2 years.)
