I feel so guilty...My hubbys friend had to move cause the place he was renting sold.
He had nowhere to g, as there is pretty much no such thing as rentals in Revelstoke since they put in the new ski hill....a trailer that should be condemmed because of rotten floors and bad wiring is going for 850/month ...if you can find one. This guy has three kids, one that's autistic and a baby still in diapers. They had no where to go..he works in Revelstoke and leave his job, so they can't leave the town.
Buying is not an option for them as prices of land have sky rocketed there to the point of not being able to find a place under 400 thou....and there were LOTS of people looking for a place for them, their whole church, fam and friends. Their only option was to stay in a camper till something came up for rent.
Weeeelll, he loves his fish, and I told him I'd babysit them till he was back on his feet....so now I'm looking after a porahna and some cichlids.
I put the cichlids in with my fish and there was also a new one I brought home from the pet shop the day before.......now I have had fish dying on me...I don't know where the sickness came from...my water is perfect, and I'm very dilagent on water changes.
I never thought of sterilizing the siphon hose between tanks, because I have never had a problem. Well, the disease spread between tanks.
I've lost the chocolate cichlid, he was the first one to go. In my 70 gallon tank I lost 2 5" tiger oscars and my blue dempsey. My 4 10 " oscars are starting to scratch ...they are my babies. Now I've lost his three big festivum cichlids ....and I feel sooo guilty ....that's all he needs.
I have tried everything from salt baths, to high grade meds...from anti fungal meds, to bacterial and parastie meds. Already spent almost 200 on meds alone, I have the fish store completely stumped, and thier shipper.
She thought it might be my water condition, but I bought another master test kit and my water is perfect.
I've searched the internet and fish forums...and I can't figure out what it could be, the signs are a little different all the time. I cryed when my oscars died...what could be making them have siezures?

I know nothing about fish but it sounds like you have stumped the pros with this. Gosh sorry you are losing fish.
And i would sure hate to be without a home and unable to find something. You know, we really need to realize how fortunate we are with what we have.

I am not any good at fish sicknesses. I might ask some one at work but by the time I go back is a week. Sorry.
Yes we all should feel lucky to have a place to live around here places are very expensive too, even to rent.

We tried so hard to find a place for him to rent, even in our town....right now he is living in a camper, and she's with the kids in a bachelor suite...she wanted to be with him, but someone didn't agree with that and called social services....so they were going to live at the womens shelter...but then Dad wouldn't be able to go visit her or the kids... can't even rent a hotel room for a month at a time cause they are full with people in the same situation.
It's crazy!

Wow that's so sad. Seems to be a lot of that going on. sign of the times to come. Our two workers one lives in a tent, the other lives in a shed. No kids to worry about though so it's not as bad.
Sorry about you losing fish, and feeling guilty about losing his fish.
hard situation.
