Lets talk digital camerasI don't think we did this one before.
Would i be happy with a Canon Powershot A540, 6 megapixels, 4x optical zoom lens, 2.5 LCD screen? OR a Kodak easyshare C530, 5 megapixel, 5x continous digital zoom, 1.5 LCD screen?
I hate the one i have. It takes forever to take a picture. Push the button half way down to be ready, then push it down and sometimes you can count to 5 before it takes a picture. By that time the horse can be in the next county. Drives hubby so nuts he won't touch the thing. I want one that is more like point and shoot. Mine takes horrible pics in the sun too. It is a HP photosmart, 215, 1.3 MP, 2xdigital zoom, 4 MB card and 1.8 LCD.
What do you all have? Keep in mind i don't want to spend much over 150 bucks. Think it is possible to get what i want for that price? OK call me cheapo LOL.

Actually Bluebell, the first one you mentioned is in the Consumer Report as a high rating. It says the Optical Zoom is better than digital. Also
the Canon Power Shot A520 is supposedly the BEST BUY!
The other one it mentions as BEST BUY is the SONY Cyber SHOT DSCW5
I think we're going with the fujifilm Fine Pix e900 9megapixels

Also keep in mind I didn't keep in mind about the price... sorry I forgot.
I just want a good one after dealing with the wonderful HP photosmart piece of for sooo long.

I went with Panasonic with my new camera...It has pretty much all the
features of a SLR without the hassel of changing lens all the time.
I have 8mp with 12x optical zoom. By changing it to less pixcels I can
get up to 48x optical zoom..Tons of different shooting modes and movies
as well. 35mm Equiv. 35-420....
Joyce is right.. you want all the optical zoom and the largest amount of
pixcel you can afford. The optical zoom with more pixcels gives you a
clear shot even after cropping and reducing the size of the picture.
I think all digitals have that hold the button half way thing.
My old camera is an Olympus...only 1.3mp. Still takes great pictures
and I use it as a back up camera, but it can do so little compared to the
new one. A good zoom lets you get to horses without them getting there
noses on the lens first. But again not in the $150 bracket. Christines idea
of trying them all out is a good one.

Yes Adrien has a great camera, if I could afford one like that that would be my chose. We have a HP Photosmart 3.2 MP 15x zoom only. Not crazy about the pictures but hubby says good enough for now.

My sister has both of these cameras. Mom and I got her the Olympus
a couple of yrs. ago......She take the most fantastic pictures with it.
Her first was the Mavica. It is and easy camera but the picture quality
is grainy compared to the olympus.

Yeah that is close alright. Well i probably won't do anything. You see i really do not use my camera for taking any pictures other then horsey pictures so i guess 300 bucks is not worth it to me. If i used one more then i would be more interested in a higher quality one. Probably go back to my old 35mm camera LOL, if i can find it. I know it is laying around here somewhere. (Off i go digging in the drawers )

I have the Kodak CX6330 3.1 mega pixel 3x optical zoom (digital zoom is nothing from what I hear) I've had this camera a few years now and I really like it of course now they have much better for the same price but I really recommend the Kodak, its inexpensive, takes really nice pics, easy to use and like you B I couldn't justify spending alot on something that was basically a toy
