Mare/milkI never had a mare drink as much or have as much milk as Duckling ..she drinks 1/2 bucket every night..and little Drake just loves his milkbar.

Christine you gave her the right name because all ducklings love water.

Yeah, my Crackers drinks twice as much as any of the other horses. I think she pees-out three times as much as she drinks, too.
I am so jealous...I cannot wait for my babies. Then, next year, I don't plan on any...so will have to do my mare-staring through youse guys.

How come you're not planning on any the next year? Not planning any ever??

I still have a yearling gelding, and the two coming this year. I don't like to have too many "babies" around, unplaced. One of this year's foals is tentatively sold already, but still, that is two extra.
I have three coming in for harness training, too...and plan to get more next spring, so I will need to keep some stalls free.
PLUS...I want to concentrate on training my gelding next year, for CDE's, and there are a few Clinics in the Spring that when I am foaling-out mares...I have to miss. For example, I will (again) have to miss the Robin Groves clinic that is on the weekend of the 10th-11th May. I have a mare due the 7th...and don't want to take the chance, of paying all that $$, and having to miss it if the mare goes late. (last year she went 15 days over) that is so unfortunate, as Robin Groves, is an Internationally acclaimed driver; and the chance to take one of her clinics doesn't come along often.

It's really hard to plan anything around it when you don't know for sure WHEN, even when you know .. you don't know LOL Does that even make sense ? I'm not even sure what I just said
