I am in love! These were at the fair. Got to get some of these little guys .. Highland Cattle.
I will even feed & water them Anyone have some?
Sher

There's a steer near me! He was a bull, but he threw calves that were almost too big for the poor ol' cows to deliver, so they snipped him. The owners are keeping him, 'tho'. They love him too much. I used to see him out in the field with his "girls". He was the nicest boy! He reminded me of Ferdinand The Bull. Does everybody know that story? Ferdinand would rather lie under a shade tree and sniff flowers than be a fighting bull. This is how that big boy was. Such a gentleman.
Joyce

Ferdinand The Bull Awh sounds like such a sweet boy!
I will be reading up on the Highland Cattle. We'll see hubby really liked them.

Looks like the calf is sharing a sucker with the little girl.. LOL

Saw those cuties at an Odd and Unusal sale at Easter and Thanksgiving long weekends. These look very tame not nervous at all.
Betty B

Oh so cute.
pyrgirl

He even has a little mane down his back!

Just remember that cute calf will turn into a cow or bull... with very sharp long horns... and all the Tenn... vermin will love that long hair...
Joyce

Blah Blah Blah Adie, I know you said the same thing about my Billy Goats
You said they'd stink and wee on their face. I think they are cute and now I find I'm strangely attracted to that scent ! Maybe I could make some body spray and sell it at Goat Days.

I think there is a newer breed where they breed the Highlands to something to get a miniature one. Miniature horns I have to keep my farm Mini Mini Horses, Mini Goats just not too many minis. The cattle are expensive though darn
McBunz

Yah.... at goats days..it is the smell of bucks.. as in $$$$$$$$$ The goat people might just love it...
Yes there are miniature Highlands.. and they are cute... and could be dehorned just like the goats.. but still a cow has no hang up about laying in
a freshy...long hair embedded with cow poop.. LOL Mind you Highlands are known to be naturally low in fat... but you would make a pet out of it and
couldn't eat it anyhow...
Joyce

No I couldn't eat my own cow, only eat someone elses LOL
We raised a couple bull calfs years ago, had to move from the country back to a subdivision so we had to put "Todd & Clyde" in the freezer
I did sneak my goats in, but couldn't hide two big bulls / steers whatever. We never ate any of it, but did feed it to the dogs for about two years of dog food They were sweet boys. They used to come up on the front porch of the cabin to wake us up to feed. We were second shift farmers at the time.
