Winter weather report

In the 20s here last night.
Good solid freeze. Good time to deworm now.
The last storm took down a tree that was holding up my electric wire so I spent yesterday afternoon fixing that. Can't figure out how I lived without a reciprocating saw!!!!!
I got some nice grass hay last weekend so no more pure rich alfalfa for the herd. They looked at me like I was crazy asking them to eat that grass stuff.
Only serving 2 flakes of the rich stuff per day now. They prefer that stuff even over their grain! Have to feed grain before putting out the coveted alfalfa flakes. Shiloh practically inhales the stuff.

Hope everyone is doing ok with the winter beginnings.

No, not yet. Maybe tomorrow or next day.
I got some square bales at a high price from a hay broker in KY. They have no alfalfa in them and were HUGE. Over 65 lbs. each. got 30 of them and fit them in the garage so I have enough to get me to March.
The round bales that are coming will pull us through to the end of April/May when I hope we'll have new hay.
Having the big horse home involves ALOT of hay, but I love it, love it, love it. I get to see him several times a day and can go out anytime just to love on him. Couldn't do that when he lived down the street.
