Raking haySince gas is so high.....this is Dolly and Vicky raking hay. Well i better get back outside. I snuck away. Hope you don't mind me putting Draft Horse pics on here. Hubby has a hitch cart, where he is sitting, and then that is hooked to the hay rake. There are 2 seats so i can ride along too.

Boy, that's the life! My Uncle Hector used to farm with horses, doing everything with them! When my other uncle, Uncle Jake, was a boy, they used horses all the time, too. It's so wonderful that there are still some of you around who use them, besides the Amish, I mean.

Yes they are neat to have. One thing they do for a person is they make you slow down. Puts more enjoyment into it. Relaxing sitting on the rake just letting the world buzz on by. Of course there are times when we need to hurry too, then we use the tractor or when we think it is too hot for the horses.

That's what I love so much about driving Lady. It's nice to be able to have a Butterfly fly in front of me and not have it get plastered all over the windshield. Driving a horse is enviornmentally-friendly!

Absolutely Sher. Big or small you get the same effect.

Even riding a saddle horse. Use to love a slow
ride around the place. Deer and moose and lots
of stuff completely unafraid of a horse. Stand
and look at you wondering what that is on the
horse.

Yes. One Christmas Eve we filled our thermos with hot chocolate, threw them in the saddle bags and rode our saddle horses around the neighborhood. It was snowiing ever so lightly, big flakes. We came upon a big herd of deer. The moon was shinning bright and they just stood and watched us as we rode by. That night has always stuck in my mind.

Sounds so beautiful Betty. Makes me wish my bones would
allow another saddle horse. Use to love to skidoo in the bright
moonlight with the head lights off too. Tree shadows and
moonlight were fantastic.

I've never ridden at night. I've walked, 'tho', and have been able to tell which mare was who in the mare paddock, the full Moon was so bright!
