Sher..

How are things going for you and your parents?
Sher

Mornin' Iz!  You're so sweet to ask!  Dad's doing okay, now that they have central AC in the house.  It helps keep the humidity out of the air, and his poor deficitent lungs don't have to work so hard.  Mom's not using her walker now, and is awaiting a cane for herself, as soon as the insurance company gets their co-pay.  For some reason her BP has startind going sky-high in the afteronons, so the nurse that visits Dad once a week is also on top of that for her.  She's going to have to adjust her meds, I guess ................
Thanks so much for asking!  I love my Mini Family here!!!  Thanks for letting me stick around, even though Lady isn't mine anymore.

I'm glad to hear that things are starting to settle out for you. It's such a tough thing to deal with....one day at a time though eh?
When my mom came home from the hospital after the car accident, she had to remember how to do a lot of things, including walking. It was a week or two after she came out of the hospital that she had her stroke. We woke up to her trying to call us, she was very confused, and was unable to move her left side. We had no idea what was happening,..we loaded her in Tony's Camero and headed to the hospital.
Doctor checked her out and said she just smoked too much and discharged her
We brought her home...things didn't improve at all, and we thought there was something more going on than just smoking, so this time we called the ambulance. Back in emergency again, a different doctor looked at her and confirmed that she had had a stroke and they kept her in.
She was in there for about two weeks as she had also had some difficulties with some blood from a previous blood transfusion.
When she finally came home, I had to do a lot for her, it took a long time for her to be able to button her shirt and things like that.
I think that the hardest thing for her was to be able to ask for help.

It's nice that you had the chance to go help, it's a hard thing to see someone go through that...I can't imagine how hard emotionally it was for you, with both parents ....you're a strong chick that's for sure

Thanks for thinking I'm strong, Iz!  From stress over Dad and Mom and having to put Sadie to sleep and Ingrid not eating regularly because of her kidney disease, I've lost 12 pounds.  NOT a good weight-loss program!
You were lucky to be able to be near your mom.  I'm 1500 miles away.  Thank God my brother is only about 20 minutes away, and has been going over there every day 'til someone comes to help Mom from Home Services.
