She's beautiful, Betty! She's got the topline of a two-year-old. Amazing! And those dapples are to die for. She must have great genes!

Yes she is a grand old lady for sure. She has had 8 babies for me. I didn't breed her the last 2 years, not because she wouldn't but because she has done enough and i baby her. She was my first mare i bought 14 years ago. She keeps herself in great shape. The last foal she had pulled her down quite a bit nursing so she keeps my gelding company. He was the first Mini i got. Her bloodlines are unknown and she was hardshipped into AMHR long before i owned her.
Yes BOSS really makes her shine Christine. Her teeth are great yet but the cold bothers her more now so she comes in at night when it is cold or rainy and damp.
7 years ago "a" vet wanted me to put her down. She foaled and 3 days later was trembling, shaking and listless. Vet said heart trouble and wanted to put her down immediately. I said NO. Hubby had used fly spray on the Belgians while she was in the barn and i asked if that could be the problem. Vet said no. He was mad at me when he left.
I called his associate and he came out and checked he over. Calcium defincency so gave her IV and she perked up within minutes. She went on to have 5 more foals for me. Trust your instincts as Vets can mess up too! What a shame if i would have listened to the first idiot!

Now that is scarey.. You would think the first vet would have
thought calcium defincency right off the bat.

That's what I was thinking, and I"m not even a vet. Glad you went with your gut.
