The Vet

Took one of my Pyr pups in to get spayed. Is it a good sign when the vet calls in the morning to see how she's doing, and she's still there with them? I couldn't help but laugh, but I told her if she would please call back tomorrow, I'd let them know how she is doing. They didn't even call back. This is the good vet ... Probably embarrassed

That would be a little embarassing for the Vet.. Suppose to check on them often.. That is why they stay over night and he doesn't even know your dog is there.. and they charge a pretty penny for these over night stays as well.
Joyce

Exactly except they do include on night Free stay with surgery, but that could be why it's free .. because they don't even know your dog is there!

I always insist that my doggers come home the same day as surgery. I have a crate I can keep them in, and I know to keep them quiet so they don't pull their spay stitches. I also know that there's nobody at the vet's at night to check on the surgeries, so I sleep better with my babies in the crate right next to me, on the floor. Call me overprotective.

Yes you are right Sher. I thought about that too and figured no one would be there anyway. I had no where to keep her inside because she's never been out of the pasture, she is so nervous would not even take the two steps to come in the house. I knew she would be out of it that first day while at the vet. I went and bought a crate but she would not go in it.
I had to try to carry her 70 lbs into the vet and home from the vet, and into the house.
Only 5 months old, never been potty trained for in the house so I was not sure what to do with her.
She's been really good. She actually barks when she wants out ... at 3:00 am to go out then 4:30, then 6:00 That was her first night, plus she would not go out alone, I had to go with. Second night she only woke me up around 4:00am just once. Not so bad. Eight more days in the house and to keep her quiet.

My vets live right beside the clinic.. and check the animals when they are there. Husband and wife team of vets and they are good..

???

We are lucky too, Adie. Our large animal vet is married to our small animal Vet, and they live just down the road from his Clinic...so I know they are checked. Heck, he's called and e-mailed me in the late hours letting us know how the animals are, or inquiring about the one's he's doctoring here at home. He's even taken my mares and foals hime with him, and put them outside his house in a portable 12X12 kennel so they could watch them and medicate them easier, and never charged a dime for post-op care. (We'd had two colic surgeries...that summer.)

I imagine your pup was checked, but she just forgot who's pup it was or something like that...surely they wouldn't just leave them there. Just an "OOPS"??
Joyce

I just think she was on the call to see how's she doing list ... and called just a bit early
