Well.....I survived my first day!!! They both arrived this morning around 9:30, and I love them to pieces. I feel a lot more secure with having them, but I am still worried. I have them stalled tonight, together, and I hope that they will be fine in the morning.
Zoey is a princess. She is spoiled and gets attitude if you make her stop something. She loves to nip!  She also doesn't like to share her food. Boy things are gonna change around here!
Gideon is really cute. He seems very shy and hates having a halter put on. He is skinny but I feared he would be skinnier. My aunt says that he looks as if he has worms bad because he has a stomach, even though his ribs and topline are showing. So I will have to wait and see. He also has a runny nose, and a cough (seems to be more so when he isn't allowed to do something). He has antibiotics SMZ, or something like that. I guess he has been on them for almost a week and Jennifer says she doens't think they helped. She also said that she thinks her friend wasn't giving him as much as he needed. He was getting two pills, twice a day. Does it sound like he may have strangles? Jennifer said that I should take him off the antibiotics for a week, to see if the desert weather dries him up. But I don't know if this will make him worse. Should I wait a day or two to see how things go, or should I continue with the pills? No sign of lice though, so I guess that's a good thing. 
Anyways, here's some pics of my first day.

OH BOY, Des! What a pair of cuties! You must be so happy and escited!
Call your vet and ask him or her what to do. I vote for leaving him on the antibiotics, however. He has a runny eye goin' on there, too. If he were mine, I'd isolate him from Zoey and get the Vet out to look him over, maybe take some blood to see what's-what with him. But that's just me. I tend to call a Vet at the first sign of a sniffle or cough with my dogs and horses.

They look happy with you. Sometimes a pot belly can be a sign on lacking protein in the feed also. Have fun with your new friends.

Wahooo..welcome to the wonderful world of Minis..
You gonna do just fine..we all had to start somewhere..
Your colt might just have allergies..or he might have pneumonia..only way to find out is a vet..I would worm him for 5 days double dose of safeguard since you have NO history..would treat him un vaccinated..so start over..get Zoeys nipping under control..Now is a good time..
And enjoy them..Big congrats!

Thanks guys. I will be calling the vet first thing this morning to set up an appointment to have them both looked at. I noticed today that his runny nose does seem a lot better, and his lymph nodes are NOT swollen. His runny eyes have gone away also, and he only coughed once in the hour and a half that I was out there (usually once he starts, he coughs up to 10 times). The only thing that worried me, is after him and Zoey were running for a while, he ended up sneezing, and this huge blob of congested snot comes out his nose. He wiped it on the ground, and was perfectly fine afterwards with no more snot whatsoever.
Zoey...oh boy, where do I begin? She is cute, yes, but don't let that fool you. My aunt came over yesterday and decided to check Zoey's feet for rocks. Zoey was munching grass and did not like being disturbed. She pinned her ears back, and tried bucking at my aunt. Then when she was supposed to go in the pen (Gideon went in just fine), she reared up at me and refused to go in.  This morning, she was doing this spin thing where she would pin her ears back and spin around to scare Gideon away from the feed. She also nipped at him, which in return, he tried kicking her. And then, she comes up to me and acts all lovely, so I lean down to pet her and she reaches right up and bites the right side of my chin. 
I think I have my work cut out for me with these two. Gideon seems like he wants attention but after he begins to walk up, he rethinks it. They are so fun to watch, running and kicking into the air. I am just in love. I told my husband at 5:30 this morning that I was going to just go out and feed them. I was back there for an hour and a half. My cell phone bill is going to be a fortune. I keep taking pictures with it and emailing them to myself because I never have the camera handy when I want it.

Hehehe..she is trying you out..wanna be "the Boss" don't let her get away with it..gotto establish the rules NOW..he seems like a sweety..I always feel that colts are much easier than fillies..he will come around fast with love and care!

Make sure you keep us posted concerning what the vet says, and how you're doing with your "schooling" with them. I hate to call it "training". Right now Zoey doesnt' have much respect for you, so work on that. Little Shy Guy will come around in a few days and will probably turn out ot be your best buddy.

Little Zoey is fooling with you..lol she just has her nose outta joint..new home new "Mom" & playmate she'll come around just don't let her get away with it.
Sounds like Gideon will be eating out of the palm of your hand soon if he's thinking to come to you already, some that have been left alone to long prefer to stay that way
Let them work out there own pecking order just stay out of the way or you might get caught in the crossfire..lol
With my guys they share their hay but grain is a different story.

Very cute both of them. His eye might just be watering from the trip to your place dust or windy. Sounds like they will be loved, anyway Good Luck on your new buddies.

Just wanted to let you guys know, Gideon comes up to me now. He is still a little head shy, but he loves to be petted. I think he fears being cornered, like when having the halter put on. He still ahs his runny nose and cough. I couldn't reach the vet yesterday, so I will try again today.
Zoey does not like sharing her JR feed. I thought he would be the one I'd have the problems with, but he is a little angel.
