What melts your heart?

I was just wondering what is is that your mini's do that just makes your heart melt, and makes you think..." I just love them so much"

For me, it's all the times I see them playing with the kids...or when I'm watching them eating, and they come over to see me, I give them a nice scratch, and talk to them and their eyes shut, so relaxed and content.

I could do that all day.

Lots of things I guess..
Holding their chin and and kissing the velvet noses and smelling horse.
Having them run to meet me all happy like puppies..
Coming home to have them whinny like they missed me..
Watching a mare with her foal.. and seeing the love..
Watching them run just for the fun of it..
Taking them into the back yard and pulling up a chair..
Sitting in a pen with weanlings and gaining their trust..
Brushing out manes and tails.. If they haven't knotted them all up.. LOL
Walking around with them on both sides with my arms around as many as I can..
Taking pictures of them to remember forever..
Having new owners like Izzy and family who are crazy about them..
The wonderful people in our little group who share their joys and sorrows for the love of their horses..

Wow, that's a nice list...and thank you by the way.
Yea, I love the smell of them too.
Coors will call me to come and see him if I'm working on the shop. I'll be upstairs on the shop, and he stares right at me and whinnies, it's so cute
Dixie loves her hugs, she will stand there forever for hugs

If they never have foals, never get trained, or got hurt real bad, I will still love them to pieces.

I was browsing sites and came across this poem:

When your day seems out of balance,
And so many things go wrong,
When people fight around you,
And the day drags on so long,

When parents act like children,
And in-laws make you think "Divorce",
Go to your pasture...
Put your arms around your horse.

His gentle breath enfolds you,
And he watches you with those eyes,
He may not have a PhD,
But he is oh so wise!

His head rests on your shoulder,
You embrace him oh so tight,
He puts your world in balance,
And makes it seem alright.

Your tears they soon stop flowing,
The tension now is eased,
The garbage has been lifted,
And you're quiet and now at peace.

So when you need the balance,
From circumstances in your day,
The best therapy you can seek,
Is out there chomping hay!

I read this the other day, and it made me cry. Isn't it true though?
This is my favorite poem, I found it on a mini site,  the author is unknown, but it sure is a great poem

lot of blues..

You are so right on that. Your horse will let you put your arms around their neck and cry your heart out and never tell a soul on you

They sure are the best for those times

Crocker's Critters

Sitting in the barn at night, watching the heads hanging over the stall doors, watching me watching them...the soft sound of munching hay, the soft snuffling sounds as they settle-in for the night, the "Good morning" whuffles when I come out to feed in the morning...

Just about everything, I guess.

The way they carry on when it is cool outside - running and frisking and bucking.
The way they snuffle me for treats.
The way they smell.
Their warm breath on my face in the winter.
The way Moriah is so brave and challenges everything.
The way Moriah is so curious about everything.
The way Shiloh always wants hugs and scratches.

Last weekend we got a good rain that made some mud out there.  I went down to feed and Moriah was chasing Shiloh.  She ran after her and tried to nip her butt.  She forgot about the mud (it hasn't rained for quite awhile) and slipped and fell on her belly just as she reached to take the bite.  !!!!  I laughed so hard.  "That's what happens when you try to be mean, Moriah!"  She had the funniest look on her face.  Like, "Gee, foiled again!  How did that happen?"
