I don't know if there is a requirement with horses. With goats if you're selling them everyone wants to know they have been tested for CAE
You have to draw blood from your animal, or it may be required by a vet to do it, but it's very costly & time consuming. They take several months for these blood tests to come back.
Some of you know I'm into more alternative methods and take more of a natural approach with my family & animals. It amazes me some of the same methods that help our animals also work for humans.
Anyway a goat breeder who writes alternative news letters in the NDGA digest contacted me yesterday.
Instead of drawing blood from all her goats for the CAE test. She draws some colesturum from a mother who has just kidded. Places it in those Red Top tubes like they use when they draw our blood. Places it on it's side and puts in the freezer until she mails it to this lab in Texas. They get results is just a couple days verses several months. Plus it's cheaper.
The red top tubes are cheap too. It's also better for the goat not to take blood. I had no idea they could test for this by using the colesterum.
Anyway for anyone with goats that have to test for this I have the links to the lab and where to get the tubes cheap. If there is this type of testing for horses I would think it works the same.
